Fiat: Design shocker Multipla as 6×6 model 🎥

UNICAT 25 years ago, the Fiat Multipla revolutionized the minivan segment with the concept of three seats in each of two rows. Now Stellantis Heritage presents a unique piece in comic style for its birthday.

To mark the 25th anniversary, Roberto Giolito, then designer of the Fiat Multipla, (gallery left) transformed a vehicle kept by Stellantis Heritage into a one-off. The Fiat Multipla 6×6 was inspired by six cartoon characters that Giolito used to humorously illustrate the benefits of the new seating arrangement a quarter century ago.

Roberto Giolito: "The Fiat Multipla 6×6 is a cheerful homage in Fiat's typical style to a model that still arouses interest after 25 years. The six figures represent six ways to experience the Fiat Multipla."

The unique piece will be exhibited at the Milano Auto Classica trade fair from November 17 to 19 and then sold.

Fiat Multipla 6x6Exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art

The redesigned Fiat Multipla 6×6 is based on a 1998 model, with the Bio Turquoise body color serving as a backdrop for the six cartoon characters on the hood and doors. Each of the six seats also features one of the characters designed in 1998 for the launch of the Multipla. Each figure has its own way of seeing and experiencing the model: from the adventurer at the wheel to the baby in a racing helmet, the attractive woman, the manager with a laptop on his knees, the monk and the hippie.

In another video, Giolito explains the strengths of the Fiat Multipla. The vehicle is a concrete example of how ingenious solutions can improve the quality of life on board. The concept was so revolutionary that the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York included the Multipla in an exhibition on the theme of the car of the future.

Production flexibility and investments

The entire body is divided into two modules: a short and streamlined base overlaid by a generous superstructure. The arrangement of the headlights on different levels gives the front of the vehicle its special appearance. The three pairs of headlights are positioned to provide optimum illumination of the road. The Multipla was also innovative in terms of production technology. Thanks to the space frame structure, it met the twin requirements of high production flexibility and low investment in the factory.
