Team boss of "bf Classic Helvetia" is the former Formula 1 and Group C race engineer Bruno Flückiger. Three historic vehicles will be taking part in this year's Ennstal-Classic under his wing.
Mario Illien and Daniel Mauerhofer will roll over the starting ramp in Gröbming on Thursday, July 19, in a 1950 Jaguar XK 120 from the Emil Frey Classics AG collection. The world-famous engine designer is taking part in the Ennstal Classic for the umpteenth time.
Premiere by David Brabham
David Brabham, son of racing legend Jack Brabham, is not only making a comeback with his revived racing company, but is also competing in the Ennstal-Classic for the first time. Of course not with his recently presented Brabham BT62 (the first new model since the company was dissolved in the 1990s). Together with Georg Treusch, the former GP driver and 2009 Le Mans winner (with Peugeot) will drive the 6.2-liter, 340-hp Chrysler 300 of his friend Bruno Flückiger.
Flückiger himself completes the team during the three days not only as team boss and coordinator, but also as driver together with Caroline Hoi in his own Auto Union Coupé.
The Swiss team will also be supporting former Austrian Minister of Justice Dr. Dieter Böhmdorfer and his son Florian in a Jaguar MK2, as well as legendary racing driver Dieter Quester. The latter will drive the Red Bull Procar BMW M1 from Wagner Motorsport at the Gröbming GP.
Three-day folk festival
The Ennstal-Classic is a three-day event with the prologue on Thursday (approx. 400 km), the marathon (over 500 km) on Friday and the grand finale on Saturday, the Zenith Grand Prix in Gröbming.
With more than 100,000 spectators along the route and around 20,000 at the Grand Prix in Gröbming, the Ennstal-Classic is one of the most important historic motorsport events in Europe. The field of participants consists of teams from more than 20 nations with a number of motorsport legends as well as celebrities from politics and culture.
