Classic Racing: Remembrance of Clay Regazzoni
The "Hockenheim Historic - Jim Clark Revival" will feature ten fields from various categories on April 16 and 17, each of which will complete one race run on both days. However, because only drivers with a racing license and FIA car pass are eligible to start here, other attractive vehicles would be excluded from participating in this event. Thanks to the Raceclub Germany Historic test run integrated into the program, spectators will be able to enjoy numerous race cars being driven briskly by their proud owners or their friends without the pressure of competition. Among them is Sepp Binder and his Ralt RT1-BMW. For the first time, the man from Zug is showing this Formula 2 racing car in exactly the same look of sponsor Etienne Aigner, with which Clay Regazzoni appeared at the 1977 Eifel Race at the Nürburgring. Before that, Hans-Joachim Stuck drove it in orange Jägermeister livery at the Jim Clark memorial race at Hockenheim. This was the third car fielded by Project Four Racing, the F2 team of future McLaren boss Ron Dennis.
Great anticipation for the premiere in Hockenheim
Since 1984, this car has been owned by Sepp Binder, who also competed in several hillclimb races in blue livery. In the course of his research, Sepp Binder discovered that his famous compatriot Clay Regazzoni once drove it. Sepp Binder: "If I have to provide the story for the preservation of the historic car passport, then I might as well show it in Etienne Aigner's colors. Now I'm really looking forward to driving it at Hockenheim." In Switzerland, Binder will race the bolide for the first time on September 3 and 4 at this year's Oldtimer Classic Hittnau.
