Bugatti: Multiple Winner at Lake Como
BEAUTY COMPETITION A Bugatti Type 57S Vanvooren convertible won Best of Show at the Concorso d'Eleganza on Lake Como. Other award winners from the French noble brand include the Type 59 Sports racing car.
Once a year, the world's finest vehicles come together at the Concorso d'Eleganza on Lake Como. But even among the best, there can only be one winner.
This year, this honor was bestowed on a Bugatti Type 57S Vanvooren convertible. It was one of four Bugatti models on display and was named Best of Show (upper gallery).
Again with original engine
In the Type 57S Cabriolet, the technical craftsmanship came from Bugatti, and the elegant convertible bodywork from Vanvooren in Courbevoie near Paris.
One of its previous owners replaced the original engine with a V8. Only after long research did the original inline eight cylinder, which had disappeared more than 40 years ago, turn up again.
Bolide with spectacular design
At the Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes, the new Bugatti bolide (middle gallery) was among the stars of the seven prototypes presented - and won the coveted prize.
Following the publication of the experimental 2020 study, customer interest worldwide was so great that Bugatti decided to produce a small series of 40 units - which sold out in a very short time.
1930s racing car
At the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este 2022, more than fifty automotive beauties from almost a century of automotive history shone. Bugatti models were on display in two of seven classes. In addition to the Type 57S Vanvooren Cabriolet and the Type 57C Stelvio Cabriolet with Gangloff bodywork, also the Type 59 Sports (lower gallery).
The jurors of the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este were so impressed that this model was awarded the FIVA trophy for the best pre-war car preserved.
