The Mille Miglia is tumultuously celebrated by fans and enthusiastic passers-by in every town.

The partnership between the Mille Miglia and Alfa Romeo will initially run until 2021. The brand has a long history with the endurance race. Alfa Romeo took part in the second edition of the "most beautiful race in the world (quote Enzo Ferrari) in 1928 with eight works cars. Victory at the time went to Grand Prix star Giuseppe Campari and co-driver Giulio Ramponi, who in the Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport needed 19 hours and 14 minutes for the 1000 miles - around 1600 kilometers. With their results, the seven teammates ensured that Alfa Romeo won the team classification of the 1928 Mille Miglia. By 1957, when the Mille Miglia was held as a road race for the last time, Alfa Romeo had celebrated a total of eleven victories.

Giovanni Moceri and co-driver Daniele Bonetti won in 2019 in an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport.

Focus on driving precision
Today, the Mille Miglia is run exclusively in so-called target time and uniformity tests, in which it is not speed but driving precision down to the hundredth of a second that is decisive. Instead of breaks for refueling only, as in the past, the almost unchanged route is now divided into four daily stages. Only vehicle models that competed in the original Mille Miglia between 1927 and 1957 are allowed to take part.

Alfa Romeo secured the "Sponsor Team Trophy" in the team classification this year.

Team success for traditional brand
This year, as in 1928, the winning team drove an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 Super Sport. After a total of 102 timings, Giovanni Moceri and co-driver Daniele Bonetti won. Their vehicle is normally kept in the factory museum in Arese near Milan. The two Italians had a narrow lead at the finish over their brand colleagues Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini in the 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport. Another Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport in fifth place overall secured the team classification "Sponsor Team Trophy" for the traditional brand.
