World Car: Awards for Audi, Hyundai, Mercedes and Toyota 🎥
THE BEST OF THE YEAR The World Car of the Year 2022 winners have been announced: The Hyundai Ioniq 5 wins in no less than three categories, making it the World Car of the Year, Electric Vehicle of the Year and Car Design of the Year.
The Mercedes-Benz EQS wins the World Luxury Car category, the Audi e-Tron GT is the World Performance Car of the Year and the Toyota Yaris is the World Urban Car (in the gallery from left to right).
102 automotive journalists from 33 countries
A panel of 102 automotive journalists from 33 countries around the world selected the innovative Hyundai Ioniq 5 as the best vehicle among nearly 30 competing models, all set to launch in 2021.
The World Car of the Year award (in German Auto des Jahres and French Prix mondial de la Voiture de l'année) is aimed at the global market. It was awarded for the first time in February 2005. Since then, some 50 journalists from around 25 countries have been judging automobiles sold on at least two continents.
Later, awards were also introduced in the Performance Car, Green Car and Car Design categories. In the Green Car and Car Design categories, special experts make a preliminary selection.
