Watt d'Or: Award for emission-free mobility

Recognition for the work of H2 Energy, Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility and Hydrospider as well as the promotional association H2 Mobility Switzerland: At the initiative of hydrogen pioneer H2 Energy, the group is currently establishing a hydrogen ecosystem for emission-free mobility that is unique in Europe. It is receiving the Watt d'Or award from the Swiss Federal Office of Energy for its efforts.

1600 H2 trucks come to Switzerland
By 2025, 1600 fuel cell commercial vehicles from Hyundai are to be on Swiss roads. With the emission-free hydrogen cycle, the private-sector initiative is making an important contribution to the decarbonization of heavy traffic.

The hydrogen is produced exclusively with electricity from renewable energies and is therefore climate-friendly and virtually emission-free. Over a distance of around 80,000 kilometers per year, a fuel cell electric vehicle saves 70 to 75 tons of CO2.

Reward for courage, perseverance and commitment

Rolf Huber, shareholder of H2 Energy and Chairman of the Board of Hydrospider and Hyundai Hydrogen Mobility: "The award from the SFOE is the golden reward for the courage, perseverance and commitment shown by everyone involved in this pioneering project. It is also proof that we are on the right track and a great incentive to tackle the next steps."

Establishment of a nationwide refueling infrastructure
The members of the H2 Mobility Switzerland support association use the trucks in daily logistics operations and ensure the establishment of a nationwide refueling infrastructure.

At the beginning of July 2020, the Avia Osterwalder filling station in St. Gallen was opened as the fourth H2 station. A further five filling stations are currently in the planning stage or, in some cases, are about to go into operation.
