The new compact SUV from Hyundai called the Kona can only be seen in advance as a shrouded front section in the dark. Technical details such as dimensions or available engines have not yet been announced.

Curtain closed for the time being
Before the official world premiere, which is due to take place in the summer, Hyundai is only announcing a few details, mainly regarding the exterior design. With the new model, Hyundai says it is developing a new design identity, which will then be introduced for various models. With sleek, striking lines, the Kona is set to make a strong, modern impression in the ultra-compact SUV segment.

Expressive
The front end is powerful and expressive with a cascading radiator grille typical of the new model series. The new design of the double, stacked front lights (LED headlights at the bottom, LED daytime running lights at the top) accentuates the powerful appearance. Wheels positioned far to the outside and styling that visually enlarges the bodywork position the vehicle as an SUV despite its compact dimensions. The raised seating position optimizes visibility for the driver, while the optionally available all-wheel drive extends the vehicle's range of use.

Curtain up only in summer
The market launch of the Kona is the next step for Hyundai Motor Europe on its way to becoming the leading Asian automotive brand in Europe - a goal that the company has set itself with the introduction of 30 new models and versions by 2021. With the Kona, Hyundai is also expanding its range of SUVs in Europe with a fourth model.
