The new XC40 is the first Volvo model based on the compact, modular CMA architecture and is positioned for a new, younger buyer base.

From January to April, the Swedish premium manufacturer achieved solid year-on-year growth of 5.5 percent in a stagnating Swiss market environment. However, Volvo Switzerland's record is even more successful in terms of customer contracts signed in the first four months.

Already around 2000 orders for the XC40
In this statistic, Volvo was able to increase sales by around 30 percent compared to the same period in 2017. Volvo sold a total of almost 3300 vehicles to Swiss customers in the first third of the year, of which around 2000 were XC40s. The new compact SUV thus recorded the strongest start to sales of a new model ever achieved by Volvo in Switzerland. The XC40, which won the "Car of the Year" award, played a key role in this development. However, the mid-size SUV XC60 also remains one of the brand's bestsellers, with 879 customer contracts in the first four months.

Swiss family likes the Swedish brand
Natalie Robyn, Managing Director of Volvo Car Switzerland: "We are very pleased that with our new model, the XC40, we seem to be hitting the mark with Swiss customers."

Natalie Robyn: "Based on the sales trend, it can already be seen that the XC40 will even replace the XC60 as number 1 in Switzerland at the end of the year."
