The permissible total weight of the rear-wheel drive VW Crafter ranges from 3.5 tons to 5.5 tons. The through-loading width of the heavy vehicles with twin tires has been increased to over one meter compared to the predecessor, thus allowing loading with additional standard load carriers. Thanks to the use of electromechanical steering for the first time in its class, the new Crafter has a large number of active driving assistance systems.
Engine range extends from 122 hp to 177 BiTurbo hp
The new VW Crafter achieves low fuel consumption and low emission values with its newly developed EU6 engines in combination with the fundamentally revised exterior design. The 2.0l TDI engine, which has been further developed for the new VW Crafter, is available for the EU6 markets with front-wheel drive in three different output levels: optionally with 102 hp and 140 hp or as a BiTurbo TDI with 177 hp. The 122 PS version is only available in combination with rear-wheel drive. The 4Motion all-wheel drive will be added to the range at a later date. The new Volkswagen Crafter will be available in Switzerland in the first quarter of 2017.
