New Jeep Compass model year 2017
The new Jeep Compass can be virtually visualized before purchase with a new technology.

Experience virtual reality at Jeep: the "Jeep Compass Visualiser" is a new, easy-to-use application. With this application, the vehicle is created virtually, but in its real dimensions before the customer's eyes.

World premiere
In February 2016, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and Accenture presented a first version of the application at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Here, it was already possible to see how interaction with a virtual vehicle can revolutionize the customer experience and purchase decision-making. The system is based on "Tango," Google's augmented reality technology for smartphones. This enables mobile devices to see the physical world in a similar way to humans. It has been specially optimized for Lenovo's Phab 2 Pro smartphone, the world's first Tango-enabled mobile device.

Functionality
With the "Jeep Compass Visualizer," customers (with a Tango-enabled mobile device) can not only walk around the full-size vehicle, but also dive inside the car and make configurations. This makes it possible to choose exterior colors and wheel options, open doors, explore the interior in realistic detail, and change upholstery colors. The configurations are immediately visible and allow the user to experience the result in three-dimensional representation without the physical presence of the vehicle.

Partnerships
To implement the project, Jeep worked with Google, Accenture and Lenovo, which contributed their respective expertise to the tool. To interact with customers, the app uses integrated device sensors, motion and environment detection, and depth perception. GPS or Internet connections are not required to function once the app is installed, making the technology usable in virtually any location.

The new Jeep Compass
From July 2017, the new Jeep Compass will roll into the showrooms of Swiss dealers. There will be a choice of three versions: Longitude, Limited and Trailhawk - each with specific equipment and drive features. The new Jeep Compass is available in the" Opening Edition" with the two engine options (1.4 l gasoline, 170 hp, 9ATX, 4×4 and 2.0 CRD, 140 hp, 9ATX, 4×4). In addition to the standard equipment of the Limited, the price of the "Opening Edition" includes the 8.4-inch navigation system, the Beats audio system and the heated steering wheel and heated front seats. This edition is available in Switzerland from CHF 349/month with five years of Swiss Free Service, and the base price of the new model is CHF 30,000.
