Environmental list: Electric transporters are missing

Environmental List
Maxus is owned by Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, the largest manufacturer in China.

Purely electric commercial vehicles are the most environmentally friendly choice - especially if they are powered by green electricity. This means they are virtually CO2-neutral and climate-friendly, and they do not emit any pollutants when driving.

Improvements to the battery
There are currently ten all-electric light commercial vehicles and three plug-in hybrid models on the Swiss market. New is the Maxus EV 80, which is available as a panel van or chassis cab.

The Mercedes-Benz eVito Tourer, the first fully electric minibus, will go on sale in July (AutoSprintCH reported). However, according to the VCS traffic club, major improvements are still needed in battery production.

Environmentally friendly alternatives
With the Tourneo Custom and Transit Custom minibuses, Ford is bringing the first plug-in hybrid models to Switzerland. The latter will also be available as a panel van.

Plug-in hybrid models are a good addition to purely electric vans, which are not yet suitable for all applications due to their limited range.

The other environmentally friendly alternative for long journeys is natural gas vans, powered by biogas. Fiat, Iveco, Piaggio and VW offer several variants of these vehicles.

Fleet emissions must fall
In order to reduce CO2 emissions and achieve the target values, the industry will have to expand the model range of climate-friendly vans in the coming years and significantly increase the share of sales.

There is light on the horizon here: announced electrified models include the Mercedes e-Sprinter, the Opel Vivaro and the VW T6.

Background: This year, importers must also achieve CO2 target values for their fleet of delivery vans. An average target value of 147 CO2 g/km applies throughout Switzerland.
