The increase in sales of electrified vehicles thus amounts to almost 75 percent compared with the same period last year. According to the BMW Group, this makes it the third-largest BEV/PHEV manufacturer worldwide.
Sales volume increased
Since 2014, the BMW i3 has been the best-selling battery-electric vehicle in the premium compact segment worldwide; the sales curve continues to show a clear upward trend. Overall, however, global sales of the BMW brand increased across the entire model range. The first seven months of this year, in which 1,191,547 vehicles were sold (+4.5 percent), were the most successful ever for the brand. A wide range of models from across the portfolio contributed to this increase: The BMW X family remains a key growth driver in this regard, with sales jumping by 15.4 percent - despite the current model changeover for the X3.
Mini involved
Vehicle sales of the MINI brand also continued to grow: 26,974 units were delivered to customers around the globe in July alone - an increase of two percent compared to the previous year. The Convertible (+23.4 percent) and the Clubman ( +6.5 percent) have recorded positive sales growth since the beginning of the year. The new Countryman proved to be the main growth driver, with a 33.5 percent increase in sales in July.
