TCS: Road safety education day in Langnau

Road safety education day: Exercises on topics such as first aid, braking maneuvers, visibility and blind spots are part of the program.

According to the Federal Statistical Office, between 2010 and 2015, around 330 children were involved in cycling accidents on Swiss roads each year, around 60 of whom were seriously injured. Children between the ages of 10 and 14 are at the greatest risk. Although they often cycle to school, they still have too little practical experience and theoretical knowledge of how to deal with vehicles and potentially dangerous traffic situations. Over the past 17 years, more than 2,400 children aged 10 to 12 have taken part in the Road Safety Education Day.

Qualification for international competition
The motto of this year's road safety education day is "Safe on wheels". The children will take part in a fun competition on the subject of road safety with a traffic garden, skill maneuvers and exercises on other topics such as first aid, braking maneuvers, visibility and blind spots. The best two girls and the best two boys will qualify for the international competition organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which will take place from 22 to 25 September 2016 in Usti, Czech Republic.
