The national SwissSkills championships, which took place from September 12 to 16 at BERNEXPO in Bern, demanded everything from the young professionals in the automotive industry between the ages of 18 and 21.
After four intensive days of competition, Florent Lacilla from Cottens from Garage de l'Autoroute, J.-F. Lacilla SA in Matran won the gold medal among the automotive mechatronics technicians.
The Fribourg native relegated Damian Schmid from St. Gallen and Steve Rolle from Fribourg to the places of honor.
Sina Bolognesi from Unterlangenegg BE was the first female candidate among the ten best automotive mechatronics engineers in the country this year.

Two European podium places are the goal
Olivier Maeder, Head of Training and Member of the Executive Board at the Swiss Automobile Industry Association (AGSV), draws a positive conclusion.
Olivier Maeder: "We saw 22 motivated, young specialists who enjoyed the craft and technology and had above-average logical thinking skills. They solved tasks that meet the requirements of WorldSkills. Our best automotive mechatronics technicians are ready for the World Championships. So the motto is clear: we want at least two podium places at the Eurocup."
The three automotive mechatronics engineers can now not only call themselves the best young talents in their field. They have also secured their ticket to the European vocational championships, the Eurocup. This is linked to participation in the WorldSkills 2019 vocational world championships in Kazan, Russia.
The European qualifiers will take place on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Mobilcity in Bern.
