This year's meeting is all about the anniversary, because the first Volvos were launched in the Lundby district of Gothenburg in 1927. AutoSprintCH is a media partner and sponsor of the event.
Pioneering
The manufacturer has been able to chalk up numerous pioneering achievements to its credit: For example, the three-point safety belt (since 1959) has saved millions of lives. The lambda sensor (since 1976) has reduced emissions of harmful exhaust gases by 90 percent. Today, it is used in almost every gasoline-powered vehicle. Currently, it is above all the City Safety System (since 2008) and Pedestrian Detection, Emergency Brake Assist and Pedestrian Airbag (since 2010) that contribute to the proverbial Volvo safety.
Special exhibitions
IG SWISS VOLVO has made it its mission to make the memorable representatives of Scandinavian automotive culture accessible to a large audience and to pass on the enthusiasm for intelligent and sustainable mobility to the next generation. The meeting on August 26/27, 2017 will take place at the conveniently located Car Logistik Center of the company Galliker Transporte in Altishofen LU. The first cars that were regularly transported by Galliker were Volvos. Thus, the Lucerne logistics company established a friendly contact with Volvo in Sweden over many years.
Varied program
In addition to the festive economy, the special show "Special Volvos" and a market with fan articles will provide Scandinavian flair. At the anniversary location in Altishofen there is enough space for participants, visitors and attractions. From veteran to new cars, almost the entire range of all Volvo types ever produced can be admired here. The entrance fee per vehicle (no matter how many passengers, participants or visitors, Volvo or others) is 20 Swiss francs for the whole weekend.
