At the end of the 1970s, the car world was already in a state of upheaval and the range was expanding. With Subaru, Emil Frey brought a completely new and affordable car onto the market: a station wagon that didn't get stuck on snow, ice and mud as well as on bumpy forest roads thanks to its high ground clearance and selectable all-wheel drive.

The Japanese soon brought out 4×4 models for everyone - from small cars to sports cars. However, it was not only the Impreza Turbo of the 1990s that managed to combine utility with emotion. Even earlier, customers identified with the practical models. With Bernhard Russi as its ambassador, Subaru also became a distinctly Swiss brand. Today, half of all new cars in Switzerland have all-wheel drive.

Emil Frey Classics shows all important models
The special exhibition shows models and people who have made a decisive contribution to building the brand: in everyday life, on vacation and on the rally tracks of the world. At the Emil Frey Classics Museum in Safenwil, Colin McRae's rally Impreza, a Subaru Turismo and the attractive XT sports car will be on display alongside Swiss hit models such as the 1600 AWD estate.
