Seat for the smart city

Each of the initiatives proposes a solution in line with the objectives of Barcelona's Urban Mobility Plan, which aims to achieve safe, efficient, sustainable and balanced mobility for the city of the future.

Safely mobile
In the area of safe mobility, the company presented the Leon Cristobal, the safest vehicle in the company's history, at the three-day event. This vehicle, designed as a "guardian angel", is equipped with six safety assistants whose functions can help prevent the main causes of traffic accidents: Distraction, fatigue, speeding or driving under the influence of alcohol. These factors are currently responsible for 80 percent of all road accidents.

Many functions
The vehicle has the following safety functions:

1. Drive Lock: This system is a built-in blood alcohol level meter that locks the vehicle if the measured value is too high.
2. Drive Coach: This voice assistant can issue fully personalized safety instructions.
3. Guardian angel mode: In this driving mode, all 15 active and passive safety systems of the vehicle are activated.
4. Display Mirror: A rear-view mirror that offers a better field of vision and avoids blind spots with the aid of a reversing camera.
5. Black Box: It records data and images while driving and sends them to a selected smartphone in the event of an accident.
6. Mentor: An app that allows parents to control the speed and position of the vehicle when their children are behind the wheel.

Apps help
In addition, and with a view to developing solutions for efficient mobility in the city, the Seat Metropolis:Lab Barcelona announced its first results: the "About it" app, which is set to establish itself as a new mobility assistant in Barcelona. Among other things, the app shows the locations of charging stations for electric cars, the stations of the Bicing bicycle rental system and accident blackspots in the city.
