Scania: Environmental sweeper vehicles for mechanical workshop
Good example sets a precedent. For Werner Isler of the Mechanical Workshop in Pfäffikon, it is important that environmentally friendly vehicle concepts already available today are not only discussed but also driven. For this reason, two Scania bio/natural gas vehicles will soon be reinforcing his vehicle fleet for the collection of refuse. For Werner Isler, it is of utmost importance that also [...]
For Werner Isler, it is of utmost importance that the next generation also finds an intact environment. It is therefore essential for him to carry out environmentally conscious transports that are as ecological as possible. Werner Isler's third vehicle is already the second gas-powered vehicle, but the first Scania in the fleet.
That the refuse collection vehicle is not a normal vehicle is only apparent at second glance. On closer inspection of the vehicle, the only thing that really stands out are the two larger casings for the gas cylinders behind it. On each side of the chassis there are four composite gas cylinders with a tank volume of 80 liters each, which means a total volume of 640 liters. Depending on the topography and vehicle weight, this allows the vehicle to travel between 200 and 250 kilometers. The big advantage in choosing composite tanks is the weight advantage over conventional steel tanks, as they weigh almost 400 kilograms less, which is a great advantage for weight-sensitive transport goods.
