Clean Rally starts on September 12, 2017
NATURAL GAS AS A FUEL The Swiss gas industry is launching "The Clean Rally" with Seat Switzerland from September 12 to 14. Five teams of two from all parts of Switzerland are being sought. The drivers of the winning team can each look forward to a Seat Leon TGI. Over the course of three days, the teams will drive through Switzerland in natural gas/biogas-powered Seat Leon TGI [...]
Within three days, the teams drive natural gas/biogas-powered Seat Leon TGI cars through Switzerland to Italy and back. For once, it's not the fastest drivers who win, but whoever emits the least CO2 on the route. The Seat Leon TGI consumes just 3.5 kilos of natural gas per 100 kilometers and produces 96 g/km of CO2, of which only 86 g/km is climate-relevant thanks to the biogas share in Switzerland. Sandra Grau, brand manager of Seat Switzerland: "Our Seat Leon TGI, which can be driven with natural gas as well as with gasoline, is the ideal vehicle for the rally. Its sporty design together with its dynamic driving characteristics will give the rally participants a lot of pleasure."
Natural gas cars produce fewer pollutants
Background: The federal government's energy strategy envisages a massive tightening of regulations on CO2 emissions for new cars in the coming years. Anyone driving a vehicle powered by natural gas/biogas is already making a contribution to climate-friendly mobility. A car running on natural gas as fuel, with a 20 percent biogas content, produces up to 40 percent less CO2 and other greenhouse gases than a gasoline-powered vehicle. What's more, gas-powered vehicles emit far fewer pollutants that are harmful to the environment and health, such as particulate matter, than gasoline and diesel vehicles.
Closing date is Sunday, August 6, 2017
