For its market launch in early 2019, the GLE will have a completely new engine range. It starts with an inline six-cylinder gasoline engine with 48-volt technology in the GLE 450 4Matic. It produces 367 hp and delivers 500 Newton meters of torque; in the short term, a further 250 Nm of torque as well as 22 additional hp of power are available via EQ Boost. Other engines, including diesel and a plug-in hybrid, will follow.
Fully networked hydropneumatic chassis
The new E-Active Body Control is a fully networked hydropneumatic, active chassis based on 48 volts in combination with a likewise newly developed air suspension. It is the only system on the market that can individually control the spring and damper forces at each wheel. It thus counteracts not only roll, but also pitch and lift movements.
Off-road package with fully variable all-wheel drive
The active traffic jam assistant relieves the driver in stop-and-go traffic up to approx. 60 km/h and even helps to form an emergency lane. The next step toward autonomous driving. Brake Assist gets a turning function as an innovation, while 4Matic all-wheel drive will in future be able to regulate torque distribution between the front and rear axles from zero to 100 percent. With the optional Offroad package, a world first is available in the form of a fully variable all-wheel drive system. A new Mercedes-Benz feature is the optional Trailer Maneuvering Assistant.
Interior in four visually different styles
The GLE features the latest generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia system. Upgrades over the A-Class, in which the system debuted, include two large 12.3-inch screens as standard. Users can choose from four visually different styles depending on their mood or to match the interior in question.
