Rimac, the manufacturer of ultra-fast electric sports cars, is posting one record after another. The latest is the spurt at the drag strip of Famoso Raceway in McFarland, California. Driver Brook Weisblat catapulted the 1400-kW flounder (around 1920 hp) over the quarter mile in just 8.582 seconds.

With air temperatures of 37 degrees and asphalt temperatures of 65 degrees, the Rimac Nevera reached a speed of 167.5 miles per hour, which is equivalent to about 270 mph.

Rimac Nevera
The Rimac Nevara, new king of the quarter-mile, squeezes 1400 kW (around 1920 hp) of power onto the track.

Artificial intelligence observes the driver
Fitted with standard Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, the car sprinted to the record with torque vectoring all-wheel drive in Launch Control mode with optimum slip. The old record, driven in Croatia, was 8.62 seconds.

The Nevera is expected to reach a top speed of 412 km/h and a range of 550 kilometers, which is suitable for everyday use. The driving performance is based on a 120 kWh battery.

A special feature on the Nevera is a driving trainer that should be able to use artificial intelligence to gradually improve the driver's skills on the racetrack as needed.

Completely designed and built in Croatia
The Nevera was designed and manufactured at the headquarters of Bugatti new owner Rimac Automobili (AutoSprintCH reported) in Croatia. The name comes from a powerful storm known in the Balkans for its speed, ferocity and energy.
