Rimac: 275.74 km/h in reverse gear! 🎥
THERE'S MORE TO COME The Rimac Nevera is finally mutating into a record-breaker. Not only when accelerating and on race tracks such as Goodwood or the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring, but also when reversing.
The Rimac Nevera has a top speed of 412 km/h and 1914 hp. The strictly limited Time Attack Edition of the vehicle was used for the record. Only twelve of these were sold worldwide, at a unit price of more than two million dollars.
As the Nevera's drivetrain has no gearbox, its four individual electric motors can provide tremendous acceleration both forwards and backwards. During the drive controlled by Rimac test driver Goran Drndak, the Nevera reached a top speed of 171.34 mph or 275.74 km/h in reverse.
Goran Drndak: "You look directly behind you and watch the landscape fly past you faster and faster. You can feel your neck being pulled forward with almost the same sensation that you would normally feel when braking hard."
Record for series-produced electric vehicle
After the Rimac Group broke 23 world records last spring with its Nevera hypercar (AutoSprintCH reports) decided to secure a few more records before the end of 2023. The Nevera was already considered the ultimate record-breaking hypercar back then. In August of this year, the Rimac Group secured the speed crown at the Nürburgring, breaking the lap record for a production electric vehicle by a whole 20 seconds.
Video shows the reverse drive
The new record drive is just as spectacular. Rimac has also published a rather curious video. It shows that the Rimac Nevera is faster in reverse than many other vehicles in front. The record drive took place in October at the Automotive Testing facility in Papenburg, Germany, under the supervision of the judges of the Guinness World Records takes place.
