In the B-segment, the CMF BEV platform enables affordable electric cars for a wide range of customers.
Renault's new electric strategy includes a strong model offensive. The Group plans to launch 14 fully electric models on the market by 2025.
Other cornerstones of the e-program are the electric industrial pole Renault Electricity in northern France, the megafactory E-Powertrain in Normandy and the partnership with Envision AESC to build a battery gigafactory in Douai.
Renault 5 and Alpine go electric
With an electric share of more than 65 percent, the company aims to soon offer one of the most sustainable model ranges in Europe. Key models include the new Renault 5 and a car known as the 4ever, which will be another new edition of a Renault classic.
A sporty all-electric Alpine will then follow from 2024, and up to 90 percent of vehicles sold are to be fully electric by 2030.
By standardizing the cell architecture, it should be possible to reduce the cost of batteries by 60 percent by 2030. Renault also wants to develop an electric drivetrain that can be produced 30 percent more cheaply.
New electric platform for compact models
Renault CEO Luca de Meo: "We are training, investing and partnering with established and emerging best-in-class players. By 2030, we will produce up to one million electric vehicles, from affordable city vehicles to sporty luxury cars."
The new CMF EV platform will be used in the C and D segments in future. The Group plans to build 700,000 vehicles on this basis by 2025. The new Mégane, which will be produced in Douai from 2022, is also based on this platform.
