Travel with animals: Always enough water

Vacation time is the most beautiful time of the year for many. It is therefore clear that they want to share their experiences with their four-legged darlings. So that nothing stands in the way of carefree vacation days, however, there are a few points to consider.

Documents, permits, vaccinations
This already starts before departure: In order for the departure and entry to go smoothly, dogs, cats and other pets may need special documents, permits or vaccinations. It is also important to clarify whether your four-legged friend is welcome at the destination at all and whether there are special obligations for the owners.

To get used to the box before the trip
Markus Peter, Head of Technology & Environment at the AGVS; "The animals must be housed in such a way that they cannot endanger the driver. This can be in a transport box or behind a grid, for example. It is important that the box is large enough. The animal must be able to stand upright in it and lie down comfortably." Enough water and short walks
Once on the road, it is the driver's duty to make the journey as pleasant as possible for the animals. Markus Peter: "This also includes the climate in the car - especially where the box is located. It goes without saying that dogs or cats should not be left in the hot car during breaks. They must get enough water during the trip and need regular stops for short walks. He also recommends carrying along the usual food - as a snack in between or because it may not be available at the destination."
