Tires: More grip for vehicles of any class 🎥
SPORT CONTACT 7 Continental's new low-profile tire was developed for sporty driving in cars of any class. A new compound concept and the adaptive tread provide high mileage and plenty of grip.
With the Conti Sport Contact 7, improved grip properties are achieved on dry and wet roads
Four small surfaces the size of a hand form the contact between the car and the road. The aim is to transmit as much engine power as possible.
A good tire is therefore of the utmost importance, especially for sporty models. Continental is now following up with a new product.
Design and asymmetrical profile
Typical for the new Conti Sport Contact 7 are the adaptive design of the asymmetric tread and the new Black Chili compounds of the tread. This provides further improved grip properties on dry and wet roads. In addition, the tire can be adapted in many dimensions to vehicles of different categories and drive capacities.
The new tread design enables optimum lateral water drainage when driving straight ahead to achieve excellent grip when braking and accelerating in wet conditions. When cornering on dry asphalt, the footprint shifts to the outer shoulder. This is designed to transmit high forces for stable handling.
Adaptable to all classes of vehicles
Heavier or faster vehicles require different tire solutions than lighter ones. Therefore, the specifications of the Sport Contact 7 are adapted to each vehicle class. There are tailor-made construction for different classes of vehicles. Also the sidewall stability, grip, high speed capability, handling and carcass design can be adapted to each class.
Of course, Continental also adapts the rubber compound precisely to the tread design. The soft Black Chili compound matches the stiff tire design exactly and enables good driving characteristics. The improvements over the predecessor tire are impressive based on the internal tests.
Mileage is extended by 17 percent, performance on the racetrack is improved by ten percent, and wet braking distances are reduced by eight percent. Initial test drives have shown that not only professional testers but also normal consumers achieve significantly shorter braking distances right away.
Diameter between 18 and 24 inches
The new tire type is initially available with diameters of 19 and 20 inches, with other sizes to be added later. In addition to 18-inchers, the range will also be extended to include dimensions from 21 to 24 inches, including high-load versions for particularly heavy vehicles such as large electric cars.
Despite further improved performance, the new Sport-Contact 7 tires will be sold at the same prices as their predecessors. Winter tires will also be added to the range somewhat later.
