The shell, made of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, is the lightest in the segment, according to the manufacturer, weighing around six kilograms (including the cover). The Recaro Podium has a triple harness opening in the backrest. Four-point belts such as Schroth's harness belts can be routed through the two lower ones, and three-point belts can be used in road-legal vehicles.
Passive seat air conditioning
In GT, touring car and club sports, the Recaro Podium is designed for use with four-, five- and six-point harnesses as well as head and neck support systems). The upholstery concept with pads at the contact points between the body and the seat shell allows color and material combinations and provides passive seat climate control: air can circulate in the channels between the pads and through the shell openings.
Seal of approval for Recaro Podium
The shell will be available with two pad sizes (M and L) from summer next year. As the first seat in the newly created "car seat racing shell with road approval" category, the Recaro Podium has been awarded the AGR seal of approval by the Aktion Gesunder Rücken (Healthy Back Campaign).
