Since then, TCS has already put thousands of tire models through their paces, thus helping to increase road safety on Swiss roads.
In the latest test, the technicians checked summer tires of the dimension 205/55 R16m 91V up to 240 km/h and 225/50 R17n 98Y up to 300 km/h with regard to 13 criteria. This involved driving tests on dry and wet road surfaces, as well as tests of wear, noise and consumption.
Good ratings for most products
Seventeen tire types were tested in the 225/50 R17 98Y dimension for mid-size vehicles. Four of them scored highly recommended in the test, twelve were rated recommendable, and only the Firestone Roadhawk is not recommendable.
Thus, TCS can recommend all but one type of tire for purchase in this dimension.
Test of 15 products in the dimension 205/55 R16
Fifteen types of slightly smaller 205/55 R16 91V tires were tested. Three tires achieved the rating very recommendable, eleven are recommendable and one is conditionally recommendable.
This was the King Meiler Sport 1, which was the only retread to stand up to 14 new tires, but failed to impress on either dry or wet roads.
