Summer Tour
On longer tours, take breaks to drink to compensate for fluid loss.

Longer days and summer temperatures affect traffic. To ensure that you are always safe on the road with your bike, motorcycle, car or camper, there are a few basic rules that should not be forgotten.

Flip-flops are a danger during emergency braking
Most importantly, the driver and passengers must always remain seated and buckled up while driving or maneuvering. The person driving should not drive barefoot, in flip-flops or sandals, because this can reduce the pressure on the pedals, which can be extremely dangerous during emergency braking.

Eating or drinking should also be avoided by the driver because it distracts from the traffic. And of course, no child, elderly person or animal should be left in a vehicle in the sun. Even with the windows open, the temperature inside the vehicle rises rapidly.

Protective clothing is important for bikers
On motorcycles, even in summer, you need to pay attention to the right equipment. The helmet must comply with the ECE-22-05 standard. TCS recommends changing the helmet every five years or after a fall. Even if there are clothes made of reinforced textiles, leather is the ideal material to protect against injuries in case of a fall.

To protect the feet in the event of a fall, boots with an integrated shell offer the best protection. Flip-flops, sandals and light sneakers should therefore be avoided even on short rides.

Cyclists should always wear a helmet
Proper equipment is also required for excursions by bicycle or e-bike. To avoid serious head injuries in the event of a fall, TCS recommends wearing an EN 1078 standard helmet, which is mandatory for users of fast e-bikes. Models with ventilation slots improve comfort.
