In the test same mass for all vehicles
The German Automobile Club (ADAC) has looked around at the current range of new cars on offer and set out to find vehicles that are senior-friendly.
The automobile club based its assessment on a car length of no more than 4.50 meters, a height of at least 1.50 meters and a seat height of more than 47 centimeters. In addition, the loading sill height should not be higher than 78 centimeters. Twenty-six models qualified.
The five favorites at a glance
The BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is one of the five favorites. According to the automobile club, it offers good space, a sliding rear seat and is easy to operate.
Other top candidates are the B-Class from Mercedes-Benz and the Opel Crossland X. In the case of the B-Class, the elevated seating position and comfortable seats, which also allow longer trips without back pain, are convincing.
The Opel scores with pleasant access and generous space, for example for the grandchild's stroller. All three belong to the rather dying breed of minivans.
The Volkswagen T-Cross and the Nissan Quashqai are also recommended by the experts and represent the trend towards small SUVs or compact crossovers.
Be sure to test drive before buying
The ADAC advises always taking a detailed test drive or borrowing the desired vehicle over the weekend before buying. This makes it clear whether you can cope with the dimensions, the seats are permanently comfortable and the car is easy to operate.
When comparing prices, you should take the trouble to consider the equipment the basic version of each model.
