A round birthday, then, which we take as an opportunity to look back on the development of the all-wheel-drive icon. One thing is certain: luxury was already high on the list of specifications 50 years ago. At the same time, the Range Rover is the role model for many luxury SUVs.

First off-road vehicle with all-wheel drive
Over the span of 50 years, the Range Rover has consistently succeeded in giving the market
with innovations and groundbreaking technologies. Among them are a whole series of world firsts.

For example, when it was launched in 1970, the Range Rover was the first SUV with permanent all-wheel drive, followed by the first ABS in a 4×4 model in 1989.

Air suspension and aluminum body
In 1992, Land Rover debuted electronic traction control in a four-wheeler, along with electronically controlled air suspension, giving passengers that sublime driving experience for which the Briton is famous.

The Range Rover is the first SUV to feature an all-aluminum body, making it even stronger, lighter and more efficient.

Legend

Already one million vehicles produced
In its current fourth generation model, with more than one million vehicles produced, the Range Rover remains the ultimate expression of luxury.

Its design and versatility on any surface make the Range Rover as interesting as it was when it debuted in 1970.
