Porsche: One-of-a-kind for a good cause 🎥
SPECIAL NINELFER Pixar Animation Studios has worked with Porsche to build a very special model inspired by one of the most popular 911s: the Sally Carrera - known from Disney's and Pixar's Cars movies.
The 911 Sally Special is unique, just like Sally Carrera. There will only be one of them - and it is the first time Pixar has supported such a project. The unique piece will be auctioned by RM Sotheby's on Saturday, August 20, as part of Monterey Car Week in California.
The auction proceeds will go to charities. One part will benefit young women with a donation to Girls Inc. and the second part will go to USA for UNHCR, an organization that supports refugees from Ukraine.
Friendship, love, support
Sebastian Rudolph, Head of Public Relations at Porsche AG: "Vehicles need a face and a story. And the animated film Cars has transferred this impressively to the big screen. The story conveys values such as friendship, love, and mutual support-and in the middle of it all is a Porsche Sally Carrera."
The project launched in November 2021 and brought together members of the first Cars team that brought both the movie character and life-size Sally Carrera to life more than 20 years ago.
Special painting for the project
The 911 Sally Special is based on the most agile variant of the 911 Carrera model series, the Carrera GTS. The car is equipped with a manual transmission and thus picks up on Sally Carrera's passion for driving.
It is painted in Sally Blue Metallic, a paint specially developed for this project and applied by hand. Of course, Porsche has also thought of Sally's tattoo, and Sally Carrera's Turbo Look wheels have been reinterpreted by the designers in Weissach.
Chronograph comes from Solothurn
In addition to the car itself, other highlights are part of the auction's scope - first and foremost a unique chronograph by Porsche Design, which was also created in collaboration with Pixar.
Like the car itself, the watch hand is painted in Sally Blue Metallic. The 911 Sally Special Chronograph was developed and manufactured at Porsche's own watch manufactory in Solothurn. In addition, the auction scope includes, among other things, an indoor car cover, a wheel rack and a book about the development and production of the unique piece.
