WayRay's technology also offers the option of displaying these offers visually in the windshield. Among other things, the system displays free parking spaces in the windshield. Porsche is joining WayRay as a strategic lead investor in the current, advanced financing round (Series C). The total amount of the financing round is 80 million US dollars (69 million euros).
Porsche acquires shares in WayRay alongside Hyundai Motor, JVC-Kenwood and various funds, putting it alongside investors such as Alibaba.

The collaboration between WayRay and Porsche was established as part of the "Startup Autobahn" innovation platform and is now being strategically continued in order to actively promote the future technology as well as its use cases for the automotive industry. WayRay is working with several manufacturers to develop the technology's application fields.

Unique technical expertise and sound backgrounds
Lutz Meschke, Vice Chairman of the Executive Board and Member of the Executive Board for Finance and IT at Porsche: "WayRay's team has unique technical expertise with solid backgrounds in aerospace, hardware and software development.

It has become clear that WayRay's innovative ideas and products have enormous potential. We are convinced that we will be able to offer our customers typical Porsche solutions on this basis in the future. That is why we have decided to make a strategic investment."

Locations in various countries and 250 employees
The Swiss company WayRay currently employs around 250 people and is headquartered in Zurich. In addition to this location, WayRay has offices in Russia, China and the USA. Furthermore, a production site in Germany is planned from 2019.

Compared to conventional head-up displays on the market, WayRay offers a significantly smaller projection system that can be installed in any vehicle, regardless of the interior design. The technology is currently being tested not only for drivers but also for passengers.
