Porsche: Electric power from Bisimoto and KW 🎥
THE BEST OF TWO WORLDS On the outskirts of Ontario near Los Angeles is the address we had an encounter of a very special kind. We met two Porsches. Two very special Porsches - two 935 models. The electric power of the Porsche 935 KV3 comes from twelve battery cells with a total capacity of just 32 kWh. The silver-gray 935 with [...]
The electric power of the Porsche 935 KV3 comes from twelve battery cells with a total capacity of just 32 kWh.
The silver-grey 935 with its bright pink decals and Brixton wheels is an extraordinary project by Turbo God Bisi Ezeriohas of Bisimoto Engineeriung. On the red 935 replica - it's a barn find - he handles the technical support. Instead of air-cooled boxer sound, Bisi's electric 935 only hums the fans and radiators for battery cooling.
Pop art painting is a real work of art
An old adage is that art can be almost anything, and the Porsche 935 with its eye-catching pop-art paint job is a real work of art. A work of art that has two worlds and came to California from Sweden via detours.
Rod Chong, owner of the Swedish-born Porsche, has been addicted to the 935 for decades. The turbo race cars dominated touring car racing in the late 1970s. Porsche won the manufacturers' world championship four years in a row with the 935 race cars. Rod Chong encountered his own Porsche 935 while visiting the Gatebil Festival in the Norwegian-Swedish border region.
In the paddock was an old Turbo with Kremer 935 aerodynamics Rod Chong got talking to the Swedish owner. As it turned out, the Scandinavian wanted to part with the old Porsche. The 935 had previously been sitting in a barn for over 20 years. Rod Chong bought the car.
Connection of the past with the future
While the 935x in some ways connects the past with the future, Bisomoto Engineering's second flat-nose Porsche is the future of the present. Weighing 1216 kilograms, the Porsche is an electric vehicle.
Bisi Ezerioha: "With my 935 K3V, I wanted to show that electric mobility is simply fun and that this drive concept has a lot of potential in metropolitan areas."
According to the full-blooded tuner, lightweight construction and electromobility are no great magic either. The entire removal of the engine, transmission and ancillary units saved weight.
Despite the batteries and the additional water-cooled induction electric motor, the 935 KV3, which is based on a 1986 911 SC, weighs less than a current Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
Recuperation and a Stoptech braking system
The maximum speed of the electric motor is 18,000 rpm, and the water-cooled 403-volt unit produces 636 hp at just one revolution. Two additional electric motors act as brakes and recuperators, and there is also a Stoptech braking system.
Bisi Ezerioha: "We have a 260-mile range, and by having the batteries under the hood in the front and in the rear, we achieve almost the ideal 50:50 weight distribution."
Of course, Bisi's Porsche was fitted with a completely new wiring harness including modern electronics and drive-by-wire system. The transmission has only one gear with a ratio of 9.73:1 (forward/reverse). The electric motor even gives the car a kind of traction control.
Struts are made of special aluminum alloy
Both Porsche 911 are equipped with the KW Klassic Clubsport coilover suspension. In addition, the front axle was upgraded with the KW HLS hydraulic lift kit via a special construction department.
With the KW Clubsport coilover suspension, spring struts made of a special aluminum alloy are installed on the rear axle for classic Porsche models. On the front axle, on the other hand, the struts are galvanized yellow and designed as monotube dampers.
Complete solution with forged steering knuckles
A damper set has been developed for fans of the Stuttgart model series who would like to continue using the torsion bar springs of their classic Porsche 911. Here, too, there is no need to change damper cartridges; a complete ready-to-install solution is supplied, including forged steering knuckles.
In the interior you feel like in an airplane
But the most exciting question is how does an electrified Porsche like this drive? It's simply awesome. The thing is fast. Incredibly fast, and when you're driving, it almost sounds like a jet in the interior... It's hard to believe that even without the air-cooled Porsche boxer sound, this car has a certain appeal.
