The outward similarity to the Opel Manta A GT/E of the 1970s is striking - colors included. Nevertheless, the relaunched classic is of course a completely new car.

While the 1974 Manta GT/E was still content with 105 hp from a 1.9-liter gasoline engine, the new version transmits 108 kW (147 hp) to the rear wheels via battery power. Maximum torque increased from 152 to 255 Nm.

The lithium-ion battery of the Neo-Manta has a capacity of 31 kWh and thus allows ranges of around 200 kilometers. The battery is charged via a 9 kW on-board charger and takes just under four hours.

With Vizor face member of the Blitz family
Visually, the Manta GSe points to Opel's new Vizor face in addition to the familiar design. It can even communicate with its environment via an LED screen. "My German heart has been electrified" runs as lettering across the new front. LED technology is also used in the integrated daytime running lights, the main headlights and the taillights.

The wheel arches are fitted with special 17-inch aluminum wheels with 195/40 R 17 tires at the front and 205/40 R 17 at the rear. The chrome-plated bumpers of the original, however, have disappeared.

Digital displays instead of round instruments
Instead of the classic round instruments, the driver now sees a wide Pure panel. Two integrated screens convey important information such as charge status and range. The sports seats with the central yellow decorative lines, once developed for the Opel Adam S, offer a level of comfort and lateral support never achieved in the original Manta.

It's just a shame that the Manta GSe is a one-off and we don't know if it will ever be available to buy from a dealer.
