Prospective buyers looking for a used vehicle in March, April and May found an above-average number of offers.
Advertising campaign without additional costs
Maurice Acker, National Sales Director AutoScout24: "This increase has mainly to do with the fact that we offered our customers to advertise their complete vehicle inventories at no extra cost. This measure was gratefully accepted and we sometimes had over 18,000 vehicles online."
Temporarily higher prices for used cars
What is striking, however, is that the price tags of used cars were higher than before the state of emergency. For example, the average used car price of dealer offers from mid-March to the end of April at 28,038 francs - briefly increased by over six percent compared to before the state of emergency (26,371 francs).
After the first easing at the end of April until the beginning of June, this average second-hand price of dealer offers was about four percent higher than before the state of emergency (27,387 francs).
Good used cars are still in demand
The experts assume that the price level for used cars will level off again over time.
Maurice Acker: "Since many car plants are still not back to 100 percent production, fewer new cars can be imported and listed. Many manufacturers have launched sales campaigns and now have to contend with a supply problem. This is also a reason why good used cars will continue to be in demand."
