Nissan: From pole to pole with the Ariya electric car 🎥
EXPEDITION At the southern edge of the Arctic Circle, Nissan has unveiled the Ariya Pole-to-Pole Expedition vehicle. In March, the modified vehicle will start its journey from the North Pole to the South Pole on 39-inch tires.
To get a little closer to Arctic conditions, Nissan and the Pole to Pole expedition team chose the Icelandic capital of ReykjavÃk to showcase the modified Ariya.
In March, British adventurer Chris Ramsey and his wife Julie will take the all-electric Nissan SUV on a journey of more than 27,000 kilometers through breathtaking environments, icy and snowy terrain, steep mountainsides and inhospitable dune landscapes.
Preparation by Arctic Trucks
Nissan has prepared the Adventure Ariya for this adventure together with specialist Arctic Trucks. Modifications to the vehicle were deliberately kept to a minimum. No changes were made to the battery or powertrain. The most noticeable difference concerns the adjustment of the suspension and the 39-inch tires. In combination with the e-4orce all-wheel drive system, these modifications enable the vehicle to travel over extreme terrain in the best possible comfort.
Espresso machine and a drone
A self-confessed coffee lover, Ramsey has an integrated espresso machine on board, among other things. Coffee is designed to help the adventuring team focus on the road during the lonely stretches. The beauty of the route is captured with a drone that can be launched directly from the utility unit on the roof. Another innovation is the portable, rechargeable power source used to charge the Ariya in the polar regions.
Measures against climate change
Co-Driver Julie Ramsey: "Preparing for the expedition has taken up a large part of our lives over the past four years, We will discover so many interesting initiatives from communities and individuals who have all created different measures to address climate change, and I look forward to sharing these experiences with the world."
