New York: Cancellation due to strict conditions

The reason: The conditions imposed by the city and state of New York to combat the Indian Delta variant were too much for the organizers.
Even if this detail is missing from the official announcements: According to insiders, the real reason is Mayor Bill de Blasio's decree that proof of vaccination must be provided to attend any public event.
Hardly any interest in electric cars
With the cancellation of the trade fair, the EV Test Fest has also been canceled. An entire floor was to be reserved for electric cars, and test drives were even planned in the hall.
In New York in particular, many people have so far had little contact with electric cars, whose sales share is very limited due to the lack of charging options.
Fixed bookings from 16 manufacturers
Mark Schienberg, President of the New York Auto Show, thanked the industry in a statement for the trust it has placed in the show.
A proud 16 brands had booked their own exhibition space, while others wanted to present their vehicles at the World Car Awards stand. Now the trade fair could present some vehicles virtually.
Hopes for the next mayor
Mark Schienberg believes that the New York Auto Show will be able to start again in April 2022. A new mayor will be in office by then; the current incumbent Bill de Blasio, who is considered to be critical of cars, will not be able to stand for re-election.
Mark Schienberg: "Just like the auto industry, the New York auto show will be back, better and stronger than ever."
One can only hope so.
