SUSTAINABLE Good news from New Holland Agriculture. The T6 tractor equipped with a CNG engine will go into series production before the end of the year. The TG with a 6.75-liter six-cylinder engine has an output of 180 hp and maximum torque of 740 Nm.
Following successful field trials, the T6 with 6.75-liter six-cylinder engine producing 180 hp and maximum torque of 740 Nm will roll out to selected customers in Germany, France, Italy, the UK and the Benelux countries later this year. Biogas production is already well advanced in these countries.
Development of an energy self-sufficient farm
New Holland CEO Carlo Lambro: "We have developed the model of the energy self-sufficient farm and shown how a closed loop of agricultural production and energy generation for farming can be CO2 neutral or even CO2 negative. A CNG-powered tractor will be added to the range later this year."
No quota for customers in Switzerland yet
The CNG tractor allows a CO2 saving of 75 percent as well as a reduction in NOx emissions of 62 percent, and even 98 percent for particulates.
The sales manager of the New Holland Center Switzerland, would prefer to sell the new T6 immediately.
Bernhard Läubli: "There are already concrete prospective buyers. But so far, Switzerland has not yet been allocated a contingent of vehicles."
It will therefore probably be 2022 before the first T6 plows across the field here, too.
Crawler tractors with different drives
New Holland is already going a step further, testing another CNG model with Italian Barolo wine producer Fontanafredda. Derived from the standard TK model, the crawler tractor with the new F28 engine from FPT Industrial delivers the same power in diesel, CNG and hybrid mode.
