The planned locations are Motorworld Munich and Motorworld Manufaktur Region Zürich in The Valley Kemptthal.
Mix of sports car and gyroplane
The company has developed the world's first commercial flying car: the PAL-V Liberty, a combination of a sports car and a gyrocopter.
The Personal Air and Land Vehicle, or PAL-V for short, combines flying and driving. At the push of a button, the flying car can be easily transformed from a car into a gyrocopter within five minutes.
With a maximum flying speed of around 180 km/h and a maximum range of 500 kilometers, the flying car can take its passengers from Stuttgart to Geneva within three hours, for example.
Rotary piston motor from Switzerland
For flight operations, the prototype is powered by a 200 hp rotary piston engine from Swiss manufacturer Mistral via a pressurized propeller. You can see more details in the gallery.
The rotor is passively rotated by the airstream and thus generates the necessary lift. While on the ground, the rotor, drive propeller and tail unit are folded in. The engine then transmits its power to the rear wheels via a chain drive.
For take-offs and landings, a runway of maximum 200 meters in length and 30 meters in width is required.
