Similar model upgrades such as additional engines and an upgraded cockpit are planned for the Mini in the summer.

Two new entry-level variants with petrol and diesel engines will be added to the range of model variants of the new Mini Countryman from July 2017. At the same time, there will be a series of innovations in the areas of design, functionality and infotainment.

Numerous modifications
The modifications concern the display and operating concept as well as the selection of optional equipment. All current models will receive an enhanced cockpit instrument with a new night-time design and a fuel level indicator that is easier to read. The Clubman and Countryman can be equipped with Apple CarPlay preparation from July 2017. Attention Assist will also be available for the 3-door, 5-door and Convertible models in future.

New drives
The drive portfolio for the Countryman will grow from July 2017 with an additional petrol engine and another diesel engine. Both engines draw their power from a displacement of 1.5 liters spread over three cylinders. They belong to the BMW Group's latest generation of drive systems with weight-optimized design and TwinPower Turbo technology.

Three-cylinder gasoline engine
The petrol engine combines turbocharging and petrol direct injection with variable camshaft control (double VANOS). Maximum output is 75 kW/102 hp with a maximum torque of 180 Newton meters between 1250 and 3800 rpm. With the standard six-speed manual gearbox, it accelerates to 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds, with the optional six-speed Steptronic gearbox in 12.2 seconds. The top speed in both cases is 180 km/h.

Diesel also as three-cylinder
A turbocharger with variable inlet geometry and a common-rail direct injection system with a maximum pressure of 2000 bar help the drive unit of the new One D Countryman to deliver sporty pulling power and low fuel consumption, according to the manufacturer. The smooth running of the three-cylinder diesel engine is also optimized with a balancer shaft. Its maximum output is 85 kW/116 hp, with a maximum torque of 270 Newton meters between 1750 and 2250 rpm.

Optionally networked
The Apple CarPlay preparation, which is optionally available in conjunction with the "Wired" equipment package for the new Countryman and the new Clubman, provides new possibilities for intelligent networking and additional infotainment offerings. It enables wireless and convenient integration of the Apple iPhone to use numerous music and communication functions as well as other apps via the operating system.
