After Zurich, locations in Aarau, Geneva Eaux-Vives and Morges will soon follow.
The first location is Europaallee near Zurich's main train station with ten e-cars of various classes, including four completely new models in the Swiss market.
Fleet to be climate-neutral by 2030
Mobility has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral and electrifying its fleet by 2030 at the latest. The biggest challenge is the expansion of the charging infrastructure.
An important location partner has been found in SBB. Over the next three years, the railroad company will equip around 150 of its parking spaces at 50 to 60 locations throughout Switzerland with e-stations from the manufacturer Juice Technology - with Mobility as a long-term tenant.
Locations near train stations
Mobility Managing Director Roland Lötscher: "For us, this is an important step toward our sustainable offering of the future. We want as many Swiss people as possible to try out electric mobility. Parking spaces at train stations are ideal, because this is where Mobility records the highest booking frequencies."
Combination of rail and car sharing
SBB also sees only advantages in the combination of rail and car sharing.
Project manager Julia Plümper: "Our goal is to develop train stations into mobility hubs, thanks to which journeys can be put together individually and tailored. A mobility chain consisting of train travel and sharing with e-cars is ecologically ideal and was a desired scenario for both partners. Electric car sharing supports SBB's corporate strategy to be climate neutral by 2030..."
Vehicles of all sizes on offer
The first location is Europaallee, right next to Zurich's main train station. Ten e-cars of various sizes and brands are now available here, including a Seat Mii electric, Renault Zoe, Hyundai Kona electric, Audi e-tron and Tesla Model 3.
In addition, the Honda e, VW ID.3, Fiat 500e and Aiways U5 are four models that are making their debut on the Swiss vehicle market.
50 stations with fast charging provider
Roland Lötscher: "Europaallee serves us as a test field to find out how different electric cars are received by users. This is very informative for our future planning. High ranges are guaranteed, especially since the cars can be recharged en route at the 50 stations of the fast-charging provider Gofast."
