With the first i30 in 2007, Hyundai began a new approach to conquering the European market: developed here, designed here and built here. Over 800,000 vehicles have been sold since then, and Hyundai expects to break the 1 million mark next year. In Switzerland, just under 20,000 Hyundai i30s have been sold during this period. The third generation is expected to continue this success. The hatchback will be launched in the next few days, followed by three more new models by the beginning of 2018, namely the station wagon (premiere in Geneva), a first model of the planned high-performance "N" version and a fastback (premiere in Frankfurt).
Thanks to a doubling of high-strength steels, the gross weight was reduced by 28 kg and body stiffness increased. The completely revised chassis with McPherson struts and multi-link axle has also been adapted in the steering so that it responds more finely and provides more direct feedback. Spring comfort and driving dynamics have both been improved, giving the Hyundai i30 a dynamic yet comfortable character.

The choice is between three familiar engines and one new one. The new one is a direct-injected 4-cylinder turbo with 140 hp. The 1.4-liter gasoline engine complements the 1.6-liter diesel with 110 and 136 hp and the 3-cylinder turbo with 120 hp (1.0 l). In Switzerland, the 1.4 T-GDi is assumed to be the main engine, mainly with 6-speed manual transmission. The dual-clutch transmission with 7 gears, which costs 1900 francs, is only expected to play a minor role as a price-sensitive brand, although the DCT7 makes a round combination with the engine.
The i30 is launched in the Launch Edition and the Launch Edition Plus, the latter additionally with TFT main instrument, navigation, leather interior, and Android and Apple integration. In addition, a distance assistant is included in the cruise control, but only in combination with DCT7. LED headlights, DAB+ digital radio, lane departure warning, attention assist and steering wheel remote control, on the other hand, are standard in all vehicles. The Hyundai i30 starts at 23,950 Swiss francs.
