Every year, Mercedes-Benz Schweiz AG honors exceptional driving achievements by Swiss truckers - both men and women. As part of the anniversary edition, 83 kilometer millionaires have been recognized for their impressive performance. In total, they have covered a distance of 103 million kilometers, or around 2575 circumnavigations of the earth. Jürg Lüthi, Director Mercedes-Benz Trucks: "Even though this is the 30th time we've held the honor, the achievements are always remarkable."
Hausi is a quadruple kilometer millionaire
As extraordinary as the performance of all the riders is, one in particular stands out: Hans "Hausi" Hafner could be honored as a quadruple kilometer millionaire. His comment: "Thank you very much for the award, it means a lot to me. I am a chauffeur with heart and soul and will continue to drive beyond my retirement age."
Acute shortage of young chauffeurs
While Hafner has covered four million kilometers, four other drivers have cracked the three-million mark, nine chauffeurs have passed the two-million hurdle and 69 have reeled off one million. However, Director Lüthi also pointed out: "There is an acute shortage of young chauffeurs. We are doing everything we can to ensure that we can also inspire the next generations to take up this profession."
