With ranges of up to 770 kilometers according to WLTP, the new S-Class representative also meets the requirements of an advanced sedan in this respect. The aerodynamics are also outstanding for a production car: The drag coefficient cW is 0.20.
Concept for battery electric models
The new upper-class generation of electric vehicles is based on a specially developed architecture that is scalable and can be used across all models.
Wheelbase and track width as well as all system components, especially the batteries, are variable thanks to the modular system.
The vehicle concept is thus optimized for all the requirements of a future-oriented, battery-electric model family.
Battery generation with high energy density
In the EQS, Mercedes offers drive outputs of 245 to 385 kW (333 to 524 hp), and maximum torques range from 568 to 855 Nm. Mercedes specifies 210 km/h as the top speed. The EQS is available with rear- and all-wheel drive.
The EQS marks the launch of a new generation of batteries with significantly higher energy density. The usable energy contents are 90 and 108 kWh.
The battery management software developed at Mercedes enables over-the-air updates. Crash monitoring while stationary during DC charging is standard on the EQS. The model will be on the road in August.
