A current example is SwissSkills, the Swiss championship for young professionals from the trades, industry and services. Around 900 of the country's best young professionals competed in 74 trades for the title of Swiss champion. More than 115,000 visitors - including around 60,000 schoolchildren - witnessed the spectacle during four days of competition and tried their hand at trades such as road transport.
Chauffeur profession in focus
Svenja Lyhs, Head of Product Management, Marketing & Public Relations Trucks: "SwissSkills is a special event because it sometimes focuses on the profession of chauffeuring and provides an insight into an industry and its job profiles that are not always viewed positively by the public. We also set accents off the road and are involved here to draw attention to the profession of chauffeuring and to support the promotion of young talent."
Fingertip feeling and vehicle control
In the finals of this category, 20 candidates from all regions of the country competed in a variety of disciplines. They all demonstrated both skill and dexterity and proved that they are masters of the vehicle. In addition, the talents also showed that they can solve theoretical tasks such as dispatching, operating a digi-tacho or transporting hazardous goods - as well as driving a forklift and controlling cranes remotely. Third place went to Matthias Hodel (Galliker Transport AG), second place to Silvio Constantin (Brauch Transport AG) and Mischa Horst from Kuppelwieser Transporte was at the top of the podium.
