Mercedes-AMG: An own model for Will.i.am 🎥
CAR OF THE DREAMS Musician Will.i.am and Mercedes-AMG have put the model The Flip on wheels in a joint project. The car was presented to the public during the Formula 1 GP USA in Miami.
Mercedes-AMG's collaboration with US rapper and hip-hop producer Will.i.am has been growing ever closer since it was launched in September 2021. Now it culminates in an extraordinary project.
Under strict secrecy, The Flip was created, a technical masterpiece with an eye-catching design. The one-off is called WILL.I.AMG and is designed to boldly push new ideas, push boundaries and dare the impossible.
For the project, Will.i.am teamed up with West Coast Customs for the sixth time to bring his vision to life. The Flip also sets an example: The goal is to give students from disadvantaged backgrounds easier access to education.
Design elements of the G-Class and the SLS
The Flip celebrated its world premiere at the F1 GP USA in Miami in the company of prominent guests such as Lewis Hamilton. The exciting sports car is based on the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé, but has been extensively modified.
Will.i.am: "It was a dream for me to own a Mercedes. Now I've achieved my goal and gone even further by redesigning my own vision of an AMG model."
All actions around the one-off, inspired by design elements of the G-Class and the SLS Gullwing, benefit the Will.i.am Foundation i.am/Angel Foundation. It helps create a talent pool that helps families and communities escape disadvantage. Mercedes-AMG supports this project.
World premiere at the film festival
Inspired by the Mercedes star and vehicle sound, Will.i.am has designed a symbol with a bear-like face called Bear Witness. The symbol is also the focus of a collection of limited edition apparel and accessories that are also available online.
The conversion and construction of the car is chronicled in the extensive six-episode documentary "Drive." It was shown as a sneak preview at the premiere in Miami and subsequently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival (May 17-28).
