Mazda: Change at the top in Europe

NATIONAL Follows JAPANESE Effective June 24, Martijn ten Brink will succeed Yasuhiro Aoyama as the new President & CEO of Mazda Motor Europe. The Japanese will return to the Group headquarters in Japan. The 48-year-old Dutchman has held various positions at Mazda for more than two decades, including managing director of regional sales companies.

Now that Mazda has successfully mastered the pandemic in Europe, the time is right to implement the management changes planned as part of the Mid-Term Plan, the President & CEO of Mazda Motor Corporation explains the appointment of a new top management team at MME.

Not only are we the first to introduce new models here, but we also introduce new technologies that are required for the particularly demanding European market."

Full speed ahead
The new Head of Europe is looking forward to his new role and does not hide his pride in his appointment.

Martijn ten Brink: "What really excites me is where we are taking Mazda. In recent years, we have launched products that successfully compete even with the better-known premium brands and have brought new customers to us who have not previously considered Mazda. With the products, services and new experiences we will be launching over the next few years, I will be putting all my energy into accelerating our journey."

Yasuhiro Aoyama returns to Mazda Group headquarters in Japan after two years at the helm of MME.

Further changes in MME management
Yasuhiro Aoyama (56) will take over responsibility for the Japanese company's global marketing, sales and service as Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer at the Group headquarters in Hiroshima.

As a result of these changes at the top of Mazda Motor Europe, Wojciech Halarewicz (49), currently Vice President Communications & Public Affairs, will replace Martijn ten Bink as Vice President Sales & Customer Service at MME.

Matthias Sileghem, currently Managing Director of Mazda Motor Belux, will become the new Vice President Customer Experience, Communications & Public Affairs at MME.

Also new to the European management team is Masaharu Kondo, currently General Manager of the Global Sales & Marketing Division at Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan, who will become Vice President Business & Product Strategy.

Alex Janssens, currently Chief Information Officer, Director Information Services and Parts, Supply & Logistics at MME/MLE (Mazda Logistics Europe), will become Vice President Information Technologies and Parts, Supply & Logistics, Chief Information Officer at MME.

All changes will take effect from June 24, 2021.
