To this end, the Japanese plan to introduce a series of new vehicles based on the so-called Skyactiv Multi-Solution Scalable Architecture between 2022 and 2025. These include five hybrid models (including models with Toyota hybrid system), five plug-in hybrids and three battery-electric models.
For all-electric vehicles, Mazda is developing its own platform that will serve as the basis for various sizes and body styles between 2025 and 2030.
Reduction of emissions for each vehicle
Mazda's central goal on the road to climate neutrality remains the reduction of CO2 emissions for each individual vehicle, according to the company's European headquarters in Leverkusen.
In addition to electrification, the Japanese are therefore also continuing to develop efficient combustion engines such as the e-Skyactiv X unit, as well as new inline six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
Dissemination of biofuels from microalgae
The company is also driving forward the development and use of renewable fuels. In Japan, for example, Mazda is involved in several joint research projects and studies by industry, science and authorities to promote the spread of biofuels from microalgae. In Europe, Mazda became the first automaker to join the eFuel Alliance in February this year.
