Vignette prices for vehicles under 3.5 tons are usually lower than for vehicles over 3.5 tons. Vignettes can be purchased for one, seven, ten days or for a whole month. Only in Switzerland is the vignette valid for a whole year and must therefore also be used by vacationers.
Cheapest fees in Romania
At 40 francs, Switzerland has the most expensive vignette. The second most expensive nation is Slovenia, where a seven-day toll sticker costs 15 euros. In Romania, car drivers drive cheapest with a vignette for three euros. The vignette in the Republic of Moldova is also inexpensive at four euros.
Weight class important for tariffs
In countries where no vignette costs are due, the weight of the vehicle is usually decisive for the amount of the toll costs. Per 100 kilometers of highway, the toll for motor home drivers (over 3.5 tons) in Austria varies between 22 euros and 54 euros. Thus, the country is the most expensive in this weight class. In the Czech Republic, it remains very favorable for motor home drivers at 0.31 euros to 0.46 euros.
Up to 800 euros fine threaten
Slovenia and Slovakia charge very high fines if you are caught without a vignette. In Slovakia, anyone driving through the country without one has to pay a fine of up to 365 euros. The Slovenian state charges up to 800 euros for failure to comply with the vignette requirement. In Switzerland, the fine is lower at 200 francs, but in addition to this, the saved vignette costs must be paid in arrears. In Hungary, the penalty is the lowest at 50 euros.
